Share YOUR Love Story with your Wedding Guests!

We are excited to share with you a beautiful new product that our entire team has fallen in love with - the Story of Us Alternative Guest Book and Box.  This classic vintage looking book turns your practical guestbook into a keepsake and timeline of YOUR love story.  Fill in the pages with the story of your first date, how he proposed, your family trees and so much more.

As your guests sign in, they have the opportunity to walk down memory lane as they read the account of your "Story of Us".  This unique guestbook also offers a small hidden compartment for a few select keepsakes such as marriage vows, your "something blue", grooms cufflinks, bridal jewelry etc.  This is so incredibly romantic, we couldn't wait to share!

The book can personalized  on the gold metal plate on the outside of the guest book - you can choose to Monogram, initial or put your full name in Script or Roman Text.

Be sure to order your guest book early so you have time to complete your story before the wedding!

6 "Comfort" Tips for Your Outdoor Summer Wedding

Greetings from the WhereBridesGo.com Team!!!
Summer weddings can be so romantic, but there can be some real challenges that must be addressed in order to have the beautiful picturesque wedding that you have been dreaming of ... especially during the heat and humidity of summer.

Below are a few tips from the WhereBridesGo.com Team that will help you stay cool in the heat of that fabulous moment.

  1. Have a back up plan - We understand your  desire to have the outdoor wedding of your dreams; however, if the heat persists, you must consider the comfort and health of your guests. Have Plan B and be prepared to initiate it if necessary.
  2. Hydration - Choosing to have an outdoor summer wedding means the hydration of your guests is now partially your responsibility. Make sure EVERYONE has access to plenty of water during the ceremony…the caterers, the set up crew, your DJ/Band, photographer, Officiant, your wedding party, your guests and of course the Bride and Groom. Bottled water with personalized labels are the perfect option for your guests, but you might consider something a little different for your wedding party. Check out these personalized Aluminum Water Bottles or personalized kids sports bottles
  3. Timing of your Ceremony – Schedule your ceremony later in the day rather than in blazing hot afternoon sun. The sun will be a little more forgiving in the late afternoon/early evening.
  4. Wedding Favors – select wedding favors that will benefit your guest during the warm temps of your ceremony. For instance, sunscreen, folded fans or program fans and as mentioned earlier, personalized bottles of water.
  5. Shade – Prior to the wedding date during similar temperatures, it would be a good idea to actually stand in the ceremony location at the designated ceremony time to experience the elements that you and your guests will encounter. If shade is unavailable, it might be a good idea to consider tent rentals for your guests comfort. If you have guests that you are certain will need a little extra care (elderly or ill) on the day of your wedding you might consider personalized umbrellas to ensure shade will be available regardless of their location.
  6. Bugs – those pesky little bugs of summer can destroy the beauty of any outdoor wedding. Consider using bug repelling Torches to outline the perimeter of your space as well as bug repelling lamps and candles throughout the space.
With a little planning, you can still enjoy that beautiful summer breezy wedding day that you have dreamed about.

The Bride's "Bag of Tricks"

Greetings from the Where Brides Go Team!!

The bridal clutch is one of the most classic wedding pieces (second only to the bouquet)...and it can be quite practical. What better place to store your wedding day survival kit than a dainty and delicately designed little clutch?

The bridal clutch is not a new idea to the wedding scene but it has definitely made an encore presentation. The clutch can also be a fashion statement, serving as a practical holder for your mints (just in case), your lipstick/chap stick, band-aid, extra bobby pins, safety pins, tissue or any of your elements for the "something borrowed something blue" tradition...

I think you see where I am headed...it's like the mini version of that 30lb bag that you sling over your shoulder everyday with the necessities that get you through daily life. The clutch serves the same purpose! There are certain items of necessity the day of your wedding and carrying them in your 30lb bag is probably NOT the fashion statement you want to make. I would think carefully about what you do have in your clutch...I'm an old fashioned gal, and many in your wedding may be put off if your cell phone rings as you are saying "I Do".

Need some help finding the perfect bridal clutch/purse? Whether you want ELEGANT Bridal Clutch, VINTAGE Bridal Clutch or SIMPLE Bridal Clutch, be sure to check out the styles that Where Brides Go has to offer.

Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest for more bridal accessories and tips on planning your perfect wedding day.

To DIY or not to DIY

Greetings from the Where Brides Go Team!

That is definitely the question in a time when Brides are forced to take a good hard look at the budget they are working with. Many brides are turning to the DIY trend to cut costs as the solution to the budget restraints. Now, let me tell you, I am a big fan of DIY - I am just like you, I have a closet full of half finished ideas,/projects and things "to do someday" when I have time. I'm as guilty as the next of staying up late scrolling through endless photos on Pinterest pinning ideas on my various boards like a mad woman....

However, here is the problem with DIY - COST and TIME. When I think of DIY projects, I truly believe in my heart that I am doing this to save money - but when the project is all said and done, many times it would have been cheaper to have just hopped online to find the project that I just created. Not to mention the stress of creating those lovely satin rosettes that will adorn my veil on the most important day of my life...do you hear the irony in my typing??? This is the most important day of my life and I am trying to hot-glue rosettes for my veil?? The second problem is TIME - is there really EVER enough time? The project that was supposed to take an hour has now consumed you every evening for the past 5 days...

I know, you are reading this, saying "ok, all this may be true", but I still have this Ant Hill budget with my Mt Everest ideas - how can I possibly find a way to meet in the middle? I am so glad you asked...because below I have a few ideas that might help...

  1. Review your Guest list - Is it possible that you don't really need to invite that friend of a friend of a friend of your mother's aunt?? You get the point, I am not asking you to leave you grandmother out of your special day, but it is YOUR special day and your guests need to be important to you and the groom.
  2. Appetizers - Is it necessary to have 10 different appetizers? Maybe you could cut to 3 or4?
  3. Full Bar - How about Beer and Wine and a few specialty drinks instead?
  4. Linen Rentals - Rather than renting linens try embellishing the ones provided by the venue.
  5. DIY - My advice to you would be this - If you are not a DIY person by nature, take caution in how much DIY you take on for your day. I have found that I am a SEMI-DIY person. I like to do things that are kinda DIY. For instance, check out these Semi- DIY projects:
  • DIY Tins - I don't have to create the container -but I can fill it with my favorite treats!
  • Personalized Fan/Program Kits I love this idea because it allows me choose my design, personalize my message - but I am not sitting at a table doing calligraphy the night before my wedding on each individual program/fan (again SEMI-DIY)
  • Personalized Place Cards I think this design is a great look - I can choose the color, the text and of course personalize to my special date.
In other words, if you choose some DIY elements for your wedding, find projects that truly fit your SKILL level, your TIME commitment and your BUDGET - This will help you to be rested and relaxed on your BIG day.

8 Tips to Keep Your Wedding Clean on the Big Day

You'll be in the spotlight ALL day, so it's important to keep your wedding gown clean and fresh looking. We've got 8 great tips to help you do just that!

  1. Drink Water.
Before the event as you are getting ready, opt for water instead of soda or coffee.  Not only will it help keep you hydrated, it won't stain like coffee or soda in the event you spill you a little.
  2. Have someone make sure the car you are riding in is clean.
Check the seats, floor, and running boards carefully for dirt and debris that can be picked up by your gown as you get in and out of the car.  Consider covering the seat and floor with a sheet.
  3. Remove the stamens from the flowers in your bouquet.
If the flowers you've chosen for your bouquet have stamens, it's possible they could stain your dress.  Ask your florist to remove remove them before assembling your bouquet.
  4. Pack a towel in your bridal bag.
As you touch up your makeup throughout the day and evening, use the towel to cover your shoulder and chest. This will protect your gown in case you drop your lipstick or makeup brush.
  5. Use and antiperspirant deodorant combination.
The antiperspirant will protect your gown from perspiration.
  6. Pack steamer in you bridal bag.
This will enable you to make quick touch ups to the gown while you are at the venue. If you don't have a steamer, a travel iron will work.  However, you'll want to make sure you put the iron on the lowest/coolest setting available so you do not scorch the fabric.
  7. Use a garment bag or protective cover for your gown.
Whether you are dressing at the venue, or changing out of your gown into another outfit after the event, be sure to use a garment bag or protective cover when transporting your gown from place to place.  It's easy to brush the gown up against a dirty surface unknowingly.
  8. Bustle it!
After the ceremony, be sure to bustle the back of your gown if you have a train. This will prevent people from stepping on the back of the gown and will it also keep it from dragging on the floor more than necessary.  As you walk, gently pick up the front sides of your gown to prevent it from dragging on the floor, as well!

Tell us what us we should include and we'll update our list!
